One of the main goals of my blog is to highlight things we have been learning about,to  showcase various educational activities, and to share tips, tricks and printables. Over the past two years my family has been learning about wellness and natural products. We have taken many baby-steps and still have much ground to cover for my family to become healthy.

Easy DIY Lotion with essential Oils

One big change we made over the past 2 years was integrating essential oils into our daily routine. We’ve switched out toxic products and made many healthier versions using essential oils. Here’s one simple way to do that:

Easy DIY Lotion with Essential Oils

Having young children, one of the easiest ways for them to use essential oils is in a “lotion.” Basically I dilute various oils with organic coconut oil and store in 4oz. mason jars. In the video above I show how easy it is to. Here are a couple of our favorite mixtures:

Gentle Baby Lotion: (See blog post on this)

4 oz. organic coconut oil

8-15 drops of Young Living Gentle Baby essential oil

Uses: use instead of baby lotion, use for red diaper areas, use as a baby massage oil

Boo-Boo Lotion:

4 oz. organic coconut oil

15 drops of  frankincense essential oil

15 drops of melaleuca alternifolia essential oil

10 drops of lavender essential oil

Uses: put on cuts and scrapes as a healing ointment.

“Pizza” Lotion

4 oz. organic coconut oil

15-20 drops of oregano essential oil

Uses: put on feet when sick to help boost immune system.

Poison Ivy Rash Ointment

4 oz. organic coconut oil

30 drops of Joy essential oil

10 drops of  lavender essential oil

10 drops of melaleuca alternifolia essential oil

Sneak Peek at my June Essential Rewards Order

Essential Rewards Oils -- Young Living

It is always a good day when my monthly Essential Rewards order from Young Living comes in!

My June order was:

DiGize:  great for tummy issues.

Citrus Fresh: wonderful summer scent which is great to diffuse; good to add a drop in a glass of water

Purification (I got this free in June!): main ingredient in my homemade bug spray; use it as a room freshener; use it in the rinse cycle of towels and rags; use it on bug bites

Lemon (I got this free in June!): I use it as a gentle detox by adding a drop in my water daily; see more lemon essential oil uses here

Progessence Plus Serum: keeps this momma’s hormones even; natural progestrone serum

Peace & Calming: Just what the name says! We diffuse before bed; helps calm racing minds

NingXia Red

I was very relieved to finally have some NingXia Red back in the house! I didn’t use it for a month and could tell. I felt it in my knees. They were ally achy again after not using NingXia Red. The last Young Living meeting I attended Young Living Crown Diamond, Marcella Vonn Harting, suggested the best times to use NingXia Red in order to get the optimal benefits:

8am — 2 oz.

10am — 2 oz.

2:00 pm — 2 oz.

I try to hit all three times, but I’m going to be honest— I’m rarely up in time for the 8:00am slot. ;) I try to drink at least 4 oz. a day close to the times listed above.
